About Mogulus

Background

Over the past ten years, video creation and distribution has undergone a revolution. Producing and distributing video content was once a concept only available to professionals. This was mainly due to expensive, complex cameras and editing systems, which required technical skill and years of experience to use. Today, just about anyone can create video content using inexpensive digital cameras, easy to use editing software and distribution sites like YouTube. The gap between amateurs and professionals has been bridged.

Is TV Dead?

Some people in the internet video industry believe that classic, "linear" TV is dead. When a viewer can see what they want, where they want and when they want, why would anyone bother watching linear TV, where you can't control the content?

The truth is, most video content continues to be distributed over traditional linear television channels, even after the insurgence of time shifting DVR's, location shifters like Slingbox, and video on demand.

The Power to Choose

Linear television allows the viewer to choose a channel and be entertained. Conversely, video on demand requires viewers to repeatedly search for content, whether from DVD, streaming video, or websites like YouTube. The two offer very unique experiences.

We believe that the future of television includes a fusion of both on demand and linear television. After all, people want both. There are times when you want to watch a clip a friend sends you from YouTube, while there are also times you want to watch a live, 24/7 news channel like CNN or Fox News.

Innovate, Reinvent, Evolve

We were all raised on television, so it isn't sensible to simply abandon it at this point. It's due time to reinvent the medium that revolutionized human communication, and Mogulus is the next step in the evolution of television.

Our Vision

We're giving Mogulus users the power to create live, original television programming, all done on their own global broadcasting channel.

The Mogulus studio transforms all of this expensive 20th century hardware into one simple, easy to use application. We're making the beauty, passion and creativity involved in television production accessible to everyone. Million dollar equipment setups and "brick and mortar" studios are a thing of the past.

Mogulus Studio

TODAY - All you need is the Mogulus studio, a web cam, and a broadband connection.

Mogulus has introduced several new groundbreaking innovations, in addition to paying homage to traditional TV.

Before Mogulus, the production control room was one fixed location, and all collaborators in the process had to be in the same building. Remote cameras for communication were possible, but also expensive since they required satellite feeds.

Now, with Mogulus on your side, the production team can be in locations scattered around the world, and still work together as if they were in the same room. Satellite feeds are obsolete, since remote cameras are now inexpensive and easy to use.

Mogulus has even bigger plans for innovation and interactivity on our roadmap. Specifically, we're focusing on two types of interactivity:

Viewers will be able to call their channel of choice, and participate in interviews and discussions using a web cam. Producers will have the ability to screen calls using the Mogulus studio switchboard, and can put a viewer live on the air.

Interactive graphics and hyperlinks will usher in a new generation of programming, including the innovative use of polls, games, and much more.

Basically, we want to help you become the next media mogul.
